We will be painting the exterior of our home in a few weeks, including the brick. I’m struggling with choosing the right white. We installed new white vinyl windows last year which will not be painted. How do I choose a white paint that will work with the windows? I don’t want a stark white paint.
Hi Tina! I encourage you to order some paint samples of potential white colors and see how they all look with your white windows. Another helpful thing would be to hire a local designer to help you choose the perfect white paint color for your exterior.
Tina what color did you go with? Our builder got white instead of our black windows we paid for *errrggg*. We don’t want to wait 3 months to correct their mistake so we will move forward and change our cream exterior to a white. Any suggestions!? We can’t go and sample the brick.
What a bummer, Reni! I hope (and assume) you’ll be reimbursed for the extra you paid for black windows. I would attempt to match the white paint as close to the windows as possible so the whites don’t clash. My suggestion is to purchase several

Would love your advice on the following
I have a white painted brick home (white duck) with white vinyl windows and black entrance door and black decorative details ie. sconces etc. Now I need to paint the gable and trim. Should I paint my gables and trim the same white as the home. Would a brighter white add contrast or confusion. Love your blog!
Hi Shauna! I prefer to keep all whites the same. Not everyone has this philosophy but I’m always afraid different white colors will clash.
I am a designer in Anchorage. I’ve been researching white paint colors to cover exterior clear heart redwood cladding. Your excellent article on white exterior paint colors has ended my search.
